Firstly apologies for the big pause (queue - Bear in a Bar joke) but like most people, I've had a very busy summer, been away, and generally enjoying myself. However, I'm back with photography on my mind and conscious in the last blog I mentioned a new kit acquisition. My new 'toy' was an ND filter - the Gobe Variable ND2-400 to be precise. Now I love the stuff from Gobe, it's great quality, sensibly prices, well packaged, and to top it all they plant 5 trees in a deforested area, for each purchase.

I've been after an ND filter for a while, so I can take some of those arty long exposure sea & waterfall shots, and this one really fits the bill when just starting out, as it allows you to play with losing between 1 and 8.66 F-stops (which is really handy). I had a quick go at longer exposure photos at dawn off a beach in Cyprus with ok results, but I'm looking forward to experimenting a bit more with this filter in the not too distant future.

On the subject of beaches, I've realised I have quite a few shots of the sea, so will shortly create a new area on the site, dedicated to the coast and beaches - watch out that soon!

As always, feel free to get in touch with feedback, suggestions, questions or just to say 'Hi' - cheers for now!
